Fund designations

Here are some different ways to make an impact in the lives of our residents. Special K Ranch is a 501(c)(3) organization. Your support is tax deductible.

General Operating Fund

Ongoing operating expenses include, but are not limited to, food, fuel, utilities, tools, equipment, hay, maintenance, and supplies for vocational programs.
SKR Foundation Endowment

The endowment is the best long-term way to support our residents. This pool of invested funds distributes five percent of its fair market value, annually, to the ranch for general operating and other expenses.
Special Projects

Your gift can be designated for a specific purpose, such as construction projects and other needs. Please contact the development office if you would like more information about current funding opportunities relating to special projects.

Tax-wise ways to give

By contributing to the ranch you are presented with the opportunity for additional tax relief.

IRA Rollover

Individuals 70 1/2 and older can transfer up to $100,000 from an IRA directly to Special K Ranch without recognizing the assets transferred as income. This tax-wise way of giving counts toward meeting the required minimum distribution (RMD) from IRAs. Distributions must be made from the IRA custodian directly to the ranch.
Appreciated Stock

Giving appreciated securities yields powerful tax benefits. Generally, the full fair market value can be deducted, and capital gains taxes can be avoided.
Planned Giving

There are many opportunities to leave a legacy while greatly saving on taxes. Depending on the planned gift design, donors can receive immediate tax benefits and can also experience tax savings long into the future. Please visit the planned giving tab for more information.
